PROSPECTING IN YOUR BUSINESS

It’s great to have a handful of wonderful customers who pay on time. But, putting all your eggs in one basket can be risky even under the best of circumstances. Healthy businesses with long-term growth potential continuously add new customers.

The reality is that even good, reliable customers can experience money problems or other challenges that can dramatically impact your business. The best way to minimize this impact is to keep growing your customer base. If one drops off, you still have the others to keep the revenue flowing in.

One of the simplest ways to accomplish this is to make a promise to yourself to reach out at least once a day to a potential new customer. This means that over the course of the year, you will have made contact with hundreds of prospects. Some may not become customers. But, others will, and a few may even refer you to others who will want what you’re selling. This means exponential growth over time, and that’s when your growth potential can begin to skyrocket.

Some of the best ways to get business are to keep referrals going and happy. Some businesses can thrive and survive off of referrals alone. There are people who have been in business 10 years without a website, does that work for everyone? Of course not. But it can work for you! Follow these 5 tips on talking to a new prospect every day to have success in this for your business!

1) Network in your Community.

This may seem like a DUH moment, but a lot of people forget whether you work from home or in an office, you should really focus on local business in your community first. This helps you network, meet new people that may know someone else to refer you too and learn about what is going on in your community.

2) Join Facebook Groups

With social media rising and people can almost not function as a business without a Facebook page, we recommend looking for business or advertising on Facebook. First find Facebook groups that fit your business or niche, use keywords in Facebook’s find groups option and see if you can join a handful of groups. Now don’t just look for clients, engage and interact with everyone in the group and business will come!

3) Make a Marketing Plan

You have to know how many clients you could take on, and what that would look like if so. You don’t want to overbook yourself and not be able to handle the work. So plan accordingly and make sure you have ample time to complete projects. You want to impress these new clients not turn them away!

4) Reach out to your “Dream” Client

Is there someone that you would love to work with? Is it a specific person or just someone with certain attributes? Find them and pitch to them! Offer your services or just reach out and give them something of value! A small gesture can go a long way. People appreciate you going the extra mile for them to show you care and that you are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done!
